Combined Phaco-Filtering Surgery

Webinar Description

Presenter: Prin Rojanapongpun

This 5-minute video shows all of the necessary tips and tricks in combined phaco/IOL/filtering surgery, emphasizing the technique's specific details in a stepwise manner. It shows alternative filtering surgery options, either using an ExPress mini-shunt vs. the classic trabeculectomy with sclerectomy (in block) and iridectomy. The mini-shunt offers fixed lumen drainage so usually leading to a more standardized flow. The aqueous is directed to a more posterior location by redesigning a large flap, thus avoiding any anterior bleb formation. The technique of a wide conjunctiva-tenon flap dissection and wide subconjunctival MMC application are clearly shown.
